The Picture of Dorian Gray

by Oscar Wilde

1890 · Novel · Gothic

Open Library OL8193416W

A young man wishes that a portrait would age in his place. Wilde’s only novel follows the wish into influence, cruelty, and a picture locked in a room.

About the author

Wilde’s novel about Dorian Gray is a fable of vanity and influence, written with the same relish for sentences that marks his plays. The portrait changes so the man, for a while, does not. More of this shelf for Oscar Wilde.
